September 15, 2021 Edition

When I launched my business back in March of 2019, yes, I shamefully created my own website.  As a solopreneur, you try to do everything on your own because well, you just want to keep your expenses low.  Boy, was that a mistake!!  When I created my website, it took too many hours and a lot to comprehend.  It was like understanding a different language – it was jibberish to me.  After I was done, it was “okay” but nothing that I wanted.  I had no idea on how to get it the way I wanted.

A few months after I launched my business, I met Dennise Kowalczyk, owner of CTD Creative Consulting (I mention her in my June Guest Blog), was the person that introduced me to Ramona Nichols because I was telling her about my woes with my website.  I’m so glad I mentioned it to her because after I first talked to Ramona, I knew she could help me with what I needed.

I started working with Ramona at the end of 2019 – I explained everything that I would want in a website.  I loved that she created a Pinterest folder where we can share ideas of the things that I really like and enjoy.  That was fun…..I like a lot of things and she got to see what my interests were so she can have an idea of my “style” so she can build a website that has my personality in it.  I learned a lot about how important your SEO (search engine optimization) & the keywords you use in your website really is.  I continued to work with her through the pandemic.  I’m not gonna lie – it was tough and we had to take a break from the website so I can figure out what is happening in my own business.  She was so understanding and worked with me until I could figure out what I needed to do.  I appreciated her patience & understanding & working with me through that crazy time that we all experienced.  I am proud to say that I have a beautiful, well-oiled website thanks to Ramona Nichols and Inspired Creatives.

Let me introduce you to Ramona Nichols, at Inspired Creatives Studio where she believes craftsmanship can still exist in a digital age, over-delivering on her promises, we are stronger together while still maintaining our individuality and when you have been given a helping hand, you reach and offer yours to another.

Ramona Nichols, Inspired Creatives Studio

While getting to know Ramona, I had the privilege of asking her a few questions about herself & her business….read on to learn more about this interview:

What are the top three reasons why a business owner should invest in your service/product?

  1. Our mantra at Inspired Creatives Studio is a quote from the great Zig Ziglar – “You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.” We’re in the business of making it easier for you to get over some of the hurdles that are blocking you from delivering your dream to the world.
  2. We’re nosy by nature. We take the time to get to know you, your business, your “Why”. We uncover who your ideal client/customer is. We drill down to who REALLY needs and is actively looking for your solution.
  3. Our ultimate goal is to partner with you for the long haul. We believe websites are living entities. They need constant nurturing and tweaking. As your business goals shift, your website has to adapt to be effective and stay aligned with your bigger business picture. We want to be there to help you and your website stay on course.

How do you describe your entrepreneurial spirit?

I’m driven by curiosity and constant learning. I’m always listening for the problems people are struggling with in their businesses. I’m their solution finder and personal cheerleader.

Why did you pick this trade in particular?

I’d say it picked me. Owning my own web design studio is the culmination of a career spent in and around tech. I didn’t go toward technology intentionally. In fact, I was totally put off by it. I fancied myself a creative and couldn’t, at the time, see a connection between the two. Out of the blue I got hired supporting some big-brained tech nerds because I could type really fast, and they couldn’t. Eventually some of their nerdiness rubbed off on me and I developed a passion for computers and early adopter tech trends. Designing websites was the happy union of tech and creative that I’d been looking for without even realizing it.

How much time do you devote to professional development/learning each week or month?

A lot!! Probably too much if I’m honest. My motto is “Always be learning.” I’m proud that I made that commitment early on. In fact, I have to be careful not to go down too many rabbit holes at one time (I’m ADHD so, yes, it can be a problem;). If I have to quantify it, I’d say almost 25% of my time is spent learning something new. Too much?

What is your ideal customer?

This question prompted me to pull out my Ideal Client Persona. Her name is Doing Good Diana. I love working with women solopreneurs, many of whom have broken away from the corporate world to pursue a higher good. Theirs is a lifestyle business. They choose to stay small and independent to maintain that lifestyle. A Doing Good Diana realizes the value of personal and business relationships. She spends her time focusing on customer loyalty and long-term customer engagement. Doing Good Diana knows that you only attain a truly enriched life by sharing your talents to help enrich the lives of others.
