Happy New Year!!  Wow, 2022 already!!

Welcome to the first guest blog of 2022!  At the beginning of 2021, I’m running this little bookkeeping business of mine, but I just can’t help to think about how much I tend to snack (especially late at night) while I’m working. Of course, this was in my subconscious and never really did anything about it until I met Joanne Mello.  We met from a networking group that we both attended and had a breakout session in the zoom meeting – at that time, she explained that she was a “Life Coach”.  Basically, she would help people to live their lives in the utmost happiest way possible.  I thought that was cool but that wasn’t the time where we started working together.  It was later in the year where I joined her private Facebook group “Stop Mindless Munching” which was right up my alley.  I love all of her content and saw that she had a promotion going for 4 sessions so I took advantage of it and the information that she gave me in just the 4 sessions were so awesome!  I lost a few pounds just from the information she shared with me.  Changing a little bit goes a really long way!

Recently, I had the privilege of interviewing the Owner & Certified Health and Life Coach at Healthy Habits with Joanne, Joanne Mello.  She is a health coach with a no-diet approach. Her personalized coaching programs help people who want to feel happy and healthy and discover a new way of life. She helps people who want to live and eat without feeling tired, hungry, or deprived. As a former dental hygienist, she coached thousands of dental patients over the years, and the most common complaint was they couldn’t find a weight loss plan that worked to maintain their healthy weight, energy, and lifestyle.

Joanne’s no-diet approach starts with uncovering how your daily habits affect how and why you eat—because it’s never just about food. Developing healthy habits allows you the freedom to live on autopilot without the guilt associated with other diet programs. Diets fail you every time because they are temporary until you hit your goal—healthy habits linked to your behaviors last a lifetime.

She offers a complimentary habit analysis call to jumpstart your new habits, a 6-Week Bootcamp to reset your relationship with food, and a 90-Day Total Healthy Habit Transformation program for a new way of life.

If you are done with diets and ready to go from nothing fits to feeling fit, schedule a complimentary, no-obligation call and discover new habits you can start today.

1.  Why did you pick this career, in particular?

I believe coaching is my true purpose in life. Many people go through life never realizing their purpose. I knew early on that I thrived when helping others. I thought I would be a nurse, but I was afraid of needles. I opted to be a dental hygienist instead and felt so fulfilled for 40 yrs. Listening to patients talk about their general health, weight, energy, how they wanted to feel better and live healthier, I knew I could help change lives. My experience in coaching, with my certifications, and genuine passion, made the shift easy from creating healthy smiles to creating healthy lives.

2.  What would your current self say to your past self?

I love this question. Wow, my list could be endless. With age comes wisdom! Age allows us to look back and know the should-haves that mattered most. Top of my list is two things:

Be present in the moment. Practice being present and see with your heart, not just your eyes! We often miss the most precious moments in life because we are busy, rushed, and stressed. We see them, but we don’t feel them until years later when we look back.

Stop worrying. Worrying is a thought that causes fear that drives you into a stagnant life. My mom was a worrier, so I became a worrier! Most who struggle with this are worrying about something that may never happen or that’s unfounded by truth. Learning to let go by asking yourself if it’s true, can your reasons be backed up with facts, or is it just emotions, is a great way to curb worrying.

3.  Did you have a role model growing up?

Like so many, I have to say, my DAD! The few life lessons that I hold today are: Be a good listener. He was such a good listener. He never gave advice without listening first, which I think is so important to feel heard. Also, it never hurts to try. He said you would never know the outcome if you don’t try, so why not give yourself a chance. Also, to be proud of anything you do, and if you can’t feel proud, then do it again until you are.  But the first habit he taught me was to make my bed every day, so the first task of the day is done, leaving me feeling accomplished. This habit has stuck with me, that I even make the bed when I’m staying at hotels! I’m so grateful for these life lessons that have given me an incredible drive to follow my passion, and I won’t quit until it’s done.

4.  Who is your ideal client?

My ideal client wants to eat real food, sleep well, have great energy, and look and feel fit. They are fed up with diets, deprivation, and doctors making them feel bad by telling them to eat less and exercise more. They don’t want to rely on potions, pills, diets, and strenuous exercise, but they are confused about what is healthy to eat because there is so much conflicting information. They can find the solution in my healthy habits program because they learn how and why to eat, sleep, move and rest. Health is never just about food. Most of my clients come to me to learn healthier eating habits to lose weight or gain more energy, but when they hit that goal, they tell me that what they really want is good health habits to enjoy their life!

5.  What was the craziest thing you have done?

I went skydiving when I was 50!  My kids had gone five years earlier, and I went to watch because I was just too afraid to try it myself. It was magnificent to see them gliding through the sky. I decided if they were to go again, I would be all in. Fast forward five years, and when they announced that they were going skydiving, I wanted to go, but I started looking for excuses to back out because I was scared to death! My husband convinced me to go with this simple phrase that we live by today:  Carpe diem, seize the day—because tomorrow is never promised. I remembered thinking I already had regrets from missing out the first time, so YES! I DID IT!  It was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had.
