Towne’s Two Cents

October, 2023 Edition

Back in March, 2023, I had a grand opening, new rebrand & new business name reveal!  It was quite the night!  Before all of the festivities began, the planning and preparation for the GRAND AFFAIR took months…..I found my office space in October and I knew exactly who I was going to reach out to help me with my rebranding!  I met Saraphina Churchill at the Cape Cod Women’s Business Summit back in 2021 & what a delightful woman she is!  In 2022, we got to know each other even more because we were both invited to join a women’s group called Amplification Allies created & led by Dennise Kowalczyk.  I was so excited for this project…..we both worked together on it and the results were just OH SO AMAZING!  I told her all my favorite things – color, theme, idea & my why!  Just look at what she has created:

It’s exactly what I envisioned for my niche, audience and new ideas!

Let’s not keep you waiting anymore…..without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Saraphina Churchill, owner of Images by Saraphina.  Saraphina Churchill is a commercial photographer and graphic artist. She owns and operates an award-winning virtual art department called “Images by Saraphina”. Saraphina focuses on helping small businesses that do not have an in-house creative team get the artwork they need to move their mission forward.  Saraphina brings her unique perspective and artistic vision to every project she takes on, and her clients rave about her creativity, professionalism, and attention to detail. Brand development, marketing, advertising, and events are the types of projects she typically takes on.

Typically, Images by Saraphina’s clients are small companies and solopreneurs who are passionate about what they do and are ready to outsource what is not in their wheelhouse. To learn more about Saraphina, I asked her if she would like to be my guest this month to interview and she ACCEPTED!!!

Let’s get started with the interview:

Why did you pick this trade, in particular?

This is my second career. I worked in public education for several years, and while I would argue that it is a beautiful way to make a living, it was not for me. One day while I was totally freaking out that I was trapped in a job that I did not want a friend asked, “So what DO you want?” and I said, “I just want to play with my camera.” My friend followed up and asked, “So you want to be a photographer?” That was my ah ha! moment. I left my job and went back to school with a focus in Photography. While back at school I discovered graphic design which I also love. By the time I graduated, it was clear that branding, marketing, and advertising was where I needed to be.

What are the top three reasons why a business owner should invest in your service/product?

Impact. Impression. Integrity. The human brain processes imagery much faster than text and has a lasting impact on your emotional response to information. The right picture and the right graphic can make or break the impression your company makes on its target market. A company’s image needs to stand out amongst the noise of its competitors in a positive and consistent way to build trust and show integrity.

What is your favorite dessert?

The short answer is pie. I even prefer pie over cake on my birthday. But if I am being truly honest, my all-time favorite is my family’s recipe for homemade banana cream pie. My grandmother taught me how to make her mother’s custard which takes a long time on a double boiler to get it just right and use that as the filling for cream pie. Add banana slices and both a crust and whipped cream made from scratch, and you have the world’s most perfect dessert. I make it every year for Thanksgiving, it’s my favorite tradition.

What is your ideal customer?

I love working with small companies who are on a mission to do good in the world but do not have the time to stop doing what they love to be their own art department. While the definition of “doing good in the world” may vary amongst my clients their passion is the same. I enjoy getting to know my clients to really understand what makes them tick and deliver the artwork they need to keep them on their mission.

Do you have any pets?

I am an animal lover for sure! I am a lifelong cat lady. Somewhere there is a photo of me as an infant napping next to the family cat. I have always had pets and typically those pets have been cats. Currently, I have 2 cats, one of whom often hangs out in my office with me and likes to make appearances when I am on Zoom.
